Originally Beaumont was not expected to be included in my breeding program. I was looking for a red tri male. He came with Raksha as a playmate since she was coming into a home with adult dogs. Once he got here, his effervescent personality stole my heart. I am embarrassed to admit that I am biased. Prior to Beau, I have only owned female dogs. Try as I might, I could not ignore this smart boy with the liquid eyes.
His favorite game is Fly Ball. When I am just too tired he makes up his own games of chase by sitting at the top of our stairs and tossing toys down to run after. He is definitely an alpha dog, but his desire to please is so great that it over-rides his will to dominate. In all training of Beau, his reward has always been a hardy hug.
When he was just a wee thing it was discovered that he loves to sing and so as we ride down the road you can often hear our out of pitch, out of tune joyful songs.
He is a blue merle bi that stands at 15 inches at the withers. He too was shown in March 2007. We will continue to work for his championship through 2008.
The much awaited breeding of Beaumont to Moxie happened this spring. Eight beautiful pups were whelped on Memorial Day. In every respect, this litter meets all of my expectations. The puppies are just beautiful with Moxie's quiet way but with the curiosity of their dad. For more information, check out our puppy page. This cross will be repeated. Should you wish more information about available pups from this litter or his next, please contact me at (713 412-0451) or email puppy@texastiaussies.com

Anyone seeing Topper as a puppy would know immediately why I would want this handsome boy in my breeding program. He looks as if he were painted. Perfect wide white collar, perfect skull cap with large white blaze blending perfectly down his muzzle to a white chest. Copper points at exactly the right places - not too much - just right. He looked all dressed in his formal attire which is why he was named "Top Hat and No Tail".
It was an absolute must to have this boy. He is Beaumont's half brother. Oh to have two Beaumonts, who could want more. Well, Topper is not his brother. He is as different as night and day. Where Beaumont is curious, Topper is indifferent. Where Beaumont is a breeze to teach any new trick, Topper is ... well, not so easy, bbbbuuutttt.....
Topper has this sense ... innate ability ... what ever you want to call it. Topper knows what people need from him. With children, he is tolerant and very gentle, allowing his ears to be pulled, his hair to be yanked, or his back to be rode. He responds with simple kisses. With the elderly or ill, he is somber. Content to quietly place his head in their lap or lie at their feet, he is able to generate wonderful smiles and brighten what could have been a difficult day.
At home Topper shows a more passive-aggressive side to himself. I know usually when you hear someone is passive-aggressive it is not good, but with Topper the behavior so endearing, it makes you want to give him a big hug. You see, to get what he wants, he just flops. We noticed it when he was just a pup. Instead of lying by you side, he would flop. Just like someone had knocked his legs right out from under him. As he grew up, he learned that growling was not allowed, so when ever he wanted to get ahead of another dog in the group, he would just flop on them. They wouldn't quite know what to do about that, so they would move. So he is known as the "Flopper Topper". We thought he would grown out of this behavior, but he has just learned how to use it better. The vet wants to give him a shot, he flops. I want to cut his nails, he flops.
Now when it comes to water, he is a different boy. He loves the water. He was just 14 weeks old on his first visit to a dog park. Someone throws a ball in the water - there goes Topper after the ball. Now before this, I couldn't even get him to look at a ball, much less go after it. To this day, going after a ball on land is more to irritate Beaumont than it is to fetch. But throw one in any kind of water, off he goes.
Topper, at just under 18 inches at the withers, is as big as you can get and still be considered a Miniature Australian Shepherd. Last fall, Topper and Sheila had their first litter. Wonderful happy puppies and beautiful to boot. Their second litter is expected the first week of August with an October delivery date. Check out our puppy page for pictures of their last litter and see if you do not agree, just awesome pups.
